It may have been a three-hour trip from her remote Virginia town to Maryland, but it wound up worth it for “Molly” who claimed a top prize on a “50 Years!” scratch-off ticket.
The lucky lottery player’s tale began when “Molly” won $25 on a Maryland Lottery scratch off, and stopped at Goose Creek on Stockton Road in Pocomoke City to cash it in late last month.
Feeling emboldened, “Molly took her winnings and doubled down, purchasing a $50 “50 Years!” instant ticket.
While she was scratching the ticket, the processing facility worker said that she found several $10,000 prizes beneath her numbers that just so happened to match the game’s winning numbers.
Unsure about how much she won, “Molly” turned to the store clerk, who advised that she had just won a five-figure prize.
“This is crazy. I thought they were messing with me. It was a wild experience,” she explained. “I am glad I was the only one in the store.”
A regular Lottery player, “Molly” made a note that she typically uses a quarter to scratch her tickets, but on the day of her big win, she couldn’t find one, and instead turned to a dime inside her car.
“I usually have a quarter but I could only find a dime in my vehicle,” she mused. “That dime sure did the trick.”
